Starred notes carry an amber star in the tree. The All tab shows a split view — starred notes on top, the full tree below — and you can drag the divider between them.
Starred is per workspace
Section titled “Starred is per workspace”Stars belong to the workspace you set them in, not to the app as a whole. Starring a note in Work does not star it in Personal, even if both point at the same folder.
That is deliberate: the notes you want at hand depend on what you’re doing.
Stars are not in the file
Section titled “Stars are not in the file”Starring is app state, not note content — nothing is written to the .md file,
so a starred note looks identical in Obsidian or any other editor. It also means
stars do not travel when you copy the vault to another Mac.
