The plugin catalog listing available plugins with install buttons.

The catalog lists available plugins and handles installing and updating them.

Action What happens
Install Adds the plugin to your vault and makes it available in the sidebar
Update Replaces it with a newer version
Remove Deletes the plugin. Your notes are untouched

The five built-in plugins need no installation — they ship with the app and just need enabling in the sidebar. The catalog is for anything beyond them.

A plugin reads and writes notes in the folder it is scoped to. It has no access to the rest of your Mac, and no network access of its own.

Since a plugin can write to your notes — the Kanban board rewriting status is exactly that — install ones you understand, the same judgement you would apply to any other editor extension. A plugin is a readable Markdown file; you can open it and see what it does before enabling it.
